Tourism on the Rise
“Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic continues being attractive for tourists, with a 7.25% jump in the arrival of nonresident visitors in the first two months, compared with the same period last year.
The figure is in the Central Bank’s last report on Tourism Flow 2012, which reveals that 876,395 tourists arrived in the country in January and February, “a performance which results from the joint efforts carried out by the Tourism Ministry and the private sector.”
Tourist arrivals grew 9.47% just in February, or 5.04% higher than in January, paced by the European market which includes Russians, which figure as the highest number of additional visitors with 11,403, followed by France (2,356), Holland (1,281) and Germany (1,142).
Last month’s 446,203 visitors were mostly from the U.S., Canada and South America.”
